Nashville-based singer/songwriter Kendell Marvel stopped by our Lincoln Avenue showroom to play his new single, “Hard Time With The Truth”, in advance of the release of his new Dan Auerbach-produced album, Solid Gold Sounds, out October 11th on Easy Eye Sound.
“Hard Time With The Truth” was written together with Auerbach and country legend John Anderson. Detailing classic country themes of love, lies, and heartbreak, the song showcases the strong storytelling and deft command of words that has made Kendell a known commodity among the Nashville songwriting elite. His rich baritone bellows and leaps and growls as he leans into an aptly-selected Nashville resonator, openly lamenting things gone wrong, his persistent shortcomings, and ultimately his very nature with the fatalistic ease of someone who knows that what’s done is done.
