This 500 Series Grand Auditorium Florentine Cutaway model from Taylor is truly a feast to the eyes and the ears. Quilted sapele is a rare, precious find, and lucky for us, Taylor got their hands on some of the finest beautifully-figured selections of quilted sapele available. This Limited Edition 514ce-QS pairs this gorgeous mahogany-like tonewood with a Sitka spruce top and premium Adirondack CV bracing to produce a warm, balanced, clear acoustic voice with a nice top-end chime and exceptional volume & power. This beauty is definitely one of those "one-size-fits-all" kind of instruments thanks to its ability to adapt to a wide range of players and playing styles.
The first thing you'll notice is the dramatic, sharp Florentine cutaway. Typically reserved for custom shop models and as a custom option on the 500 Series instruments and above, the hand-crafted Florentine cutaway is more a complex and labor-intensive cutaway in comparison to the Venetian cutaway. Functional and artistic all at the same time, the Florentine cutaway adds an elegant visual touch while providing even greater access to the highest frets on the fingerboard.
A tasteful selection of new appointments also allow this 514ce-QS to stand out. The top is adorned with enticing curly maple edging, rosewood top/soundhole binding, and a beautiful rosewood/mother-of-pearl rosette while the back is also bound by rosewood and showcases a rosewood backstrip. Capstone fretboard inlays in rosewood and mother-of-pearl complement the rosette and other natural-wood trimmings beautifully. Other top-shelf features include a full-gloss body finish, a set of premium Gotoh gold tuning machines and Taylor Expression System 2 electronics. Comes complete with a Taylor deluxe hardshell case and a limited edition interior label.
