Trying a mid 1970s UREI 1176 LN (rev H) compressor / limiter on guitars and drums is a game changing experience for me. It makes everything sound big, punchy, in your face and yet clear and spatially rich. I'm applying it on electric guitar today: Gibson Les Paul 1959 Standard Reissue through a Cranked 1971 Marshall Superbass Full stack and a mid 1970s 3-ply Ludwig Super Classic kit.
