Ormsby guitars originally hail from Australia, where company leader Perry Ormsby has been designing cutting edge, outrageous multi-scale guitars for over a decade.
Leading the way with exotic timbers, original body shapes and innovative hardware combinations, Ormsby’s guitars are immediately distinctive. These production models are made at World Musical Instruments in Korea, well known as creators of some of the finest imported guitars in the world. Ormsby guitars impress with their attention to detail, extreme styling and superlative sound.
The Hype GTR is Ormsby’s production model of their original design Hypemachine. It is a rather aggressive and slightly offset take on the traditional Superstrat performance guitar and has a very distinct headstock that to us looks like a harpoon!
This 6 string model has a chambered Swamp Ash body with a tasteful veneer of Flamed Maple to give this guitar a spectacular look, especially with this incredible Chameleon finish!
The Hype GTR is, like most Ormsby guitars, a multi scale instrument. Fanned frets and a staggered bridge & nut allow gradual scale length changes along the fingerboard. The result is a guitar that tis perfectly in tune and in tone, not to mention extremely comfortable and ‘natural’ to play.
The set maple neck has a D profile, nicely substantial whilst obviously still offering extreme shredding ability!
24 Stainless steel frets arranged fan-style on the Ebony fingerboard provide a multi-scale of 25.5-27.5”. Needless to say, intonation is perfect on every position of the neck and at every fret.
Ormsby include their logo on the truss rod cover next to that fantastic headstock. Guitarists who play in heavy bands can make a great visual statement with this guitar!
Custom-designed humbuckers - a Nunchucker and a De La Creme - provide the wide-ranging tones that contemporary players need. This guitar by turns sounds smooth, crunchy, glassy and brutal.
The bridge is a custom design too and made especially for Ormsby by Hipshot. It is carefully positioned for correct intonation of the multi-scale length and it crafted to a high quality, like every other part of this instrument.
