In this video I'm recreating vital parts of the sound chain of the classic 1971 Led Zeppelin drum recording of 'When the levee breaks'. I'm using 1970s Ludwig Classic maple 3-ply drums here and 1960s Beyerdynamic M160 ribbon mics and an Urei 1176 compressor. I discuss the reported Andy Johns sound chain at the end of the video.
