Guthrie Govan Waves - Solo - Guitar Lesson - Part 3 of 3 - Guitar Instruction and Breakdown
And finally ... we've reached the much requested solo for Waves. This is the first of two guitar solos that Guthrie plays in this song. If you have not yet checked out the first series of lessons we did on this song please do take some time to check it out. You will find the links to those videos further down in this description. In the first lesson we discuss our approach on these lessons (both parts 1 -3 for the melody section and parts 1 -3 of the first lead solo section) and we also discuss the gear (amps and pedals) being used in these lessons.
In this seres of three lessons we will be breakdown the first solo note for note then at the end we will analyze it further and talk a little theory. We will break it down into several useful licks and concepts that you can immediately use in your own playing.
So as we stated on the lessons based on the melody section of this song ... this will be a 6 part lesson. The first three parts are dedicated to (as always) the rhythm/chords of the song and also the lead Melody. The second three parts are dedicated to the first solo section then ending with (as usual) theory and concept talk to help you incorporate what you have learn into your own playing.
Mr Guthrie Govan never fails to create amazing musical statements while using concepts and techniques that are just so impressively slick. But unlike many players, the techniques never stand out as licks or "moments of flash" used to impress ones prowess on the instrument. He always serves the song and puts melody and phrasing before chops.
For all those who want to jump to a specific part of this lesson - here are the links. But if you do have the time to watch all, it is advised because throughout all parts there are tips and nuggets of goodness to be had.

I have not seen either, however they are great guys working over there and they create high quality stuff.
We will eventually be posting the Tab for the melody and first solo on our website ... but not the entire song.
As we've stated in earlier Guthrie Govan lessons that we've presented, I'm sure if you are checking out this lesson ... it means you are familiar with Guthrie Govan. So I won't dive into too much description about this guitar genius and what he's all about. But if you do like him please check out our "Guthrie Govan" playlist on our channel at the following link ...

I hope you enjoy this lesson ...
Also as a side note ... we are excited to be using a new Wampler Euphoria Pedal on this video. I haven't had a lot of time to play with this pedal yet. But what I have heard (and felt) while playing around with it for a little while ... pretty darn impressed. It's hard to find a pedal that is truly touch sensitive ... giving a nice full gain but cleans up well when dialing back the volume on the guitar ... all while not affecting the tone of the guitar much at all.
So to say the least ... I'm liking what I'm getting from it in my short time spent with it. We will be doing a full review on this pedal and several others in the coming months ... so we hope you stick around for those also.
