It is a common misunderstanding that the Electro-Voice RE320 is an RE20 with a paint job and different tone controls. That is not at all true. The first notable difference is in the magnetic element itself. The RE320 features a neodymium element, which has a naturally brighter and higher output.
If you like the RE-20 but find yourself cranking the preamp volume higher than you’d like, the RE320 may be your answer. It has a high frequency peak at around 9K that makes for excellent vocal intelligibility and presence. Its switching lends it a dual personality that makes it great for everything from kick drum to exposed lead vocal. The RE-320 comes with a custom clip and a steel carrying case.
Recorded at Musician’s Friend in March of 2015.
