I'm impressed that Marshall makes their classic tone available even in the entry level amps. Today I'm comparing a 2021 Marshall DSL20HR to a 1987 Marshall Lead 12. Both can be had for very reasonable money. I'm playing them through a 1985 Marshall model 1933 1x12 cab with a 1970 Celestion G12M25 55Hz Pulsonic Greenback using a 202X Nordin Comet Krystin Guitar. Close mics are a 197X Unidyne IV 548 and a 196X Beyerdynamic M160 and room mic is a 2008 AKG C414BXLII.
