Episode #1251: In this video I'm comparing 3 British voiced Eminence Speaker to the original vintage Celestions. The Eminence speakers are 2021 Red Coat Private Jack, 2022 (New) Legend GB128 and 2017 Supro BD12. The original Celestions are: 1968 G12M25 75Hz Greenback (Pulsonic), 1979 G12-65 8 Ohm and 1982 G12-65 15 Ohm. I'm using a 2019 Marshall Studio Vintage amp with all EQ knobs on five, both channels jumpered, with Vol1=4 and Vol2=6. The guitar is a 2013 Gibson SG Standard Custom Shop (Aged) with a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge. I'm putting the speakers in 1986 Marshall 1x12 model 1933 where I've swapped the closed back to the semi open concept of the 4010 using it's two small back pieces. I'm using physical references to get the cab back in the exact same place between each speaker and I've also drawn the contours of the close mics (MD421U5 and SM57) on the grill cloth, to ensure sufficient repeatability.
I'm investigating the consistency of vintage Greenbacks in this video, by comparing this 1968 Greenback to 4 others, where I also, at the end, explain the cab used in this video:
