I'm playing an AX8 Amp Modeler from Fractal Audio through a small cheap Headrush FRFR-108 Active Monitor and it sounds HUGE and brutal! It nails so many classic guitar tones like Metallica's Black Album, Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction and many Marshall tones from the 1970s. I'm playing a 2013 Gibson SG Custom Shop. I'm using three mics to record the monitor: a 1970s Unidyne IV 548 on the Tweeter, a 70-80s Sennheiser MD421U5 on the Woofer and a 1960s Beyerdynamic M160 Room mic. I'm plugging the AX8 directly into the sound interface which also sounds great. There is no post processing other than some slight Cubase Reverb here. We're also using the same patch throughout the video and create the different classic tone with the guitar pots and pick attack. I had no idea these were this good. Don't miss this one!
