Dave Smith Instruments have unveiled the new Rev 2 Analog Synth at NAMM 2017.

The Rev 2 is a 16-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer is a re imagining of the classic Dave Smith Prophet ’08 poly synth.

The Rev 2 keeps all of the main features of the Prophet ’08 and enhances them for the next generation.

The Rev2 features double the polyphony and double the mod matrix of the original anlague synth.

It features waveshape modulation on all waveforms, digital effects and a polyphonic step sequencer per layer, plus a multitude of other features.

Hi, Dave Smith here at the NAMM show and we’ve got an awesome new product we’re calling the Rev 2.

Basically it’s an update of the Prophet 08. You can actually load Prophet 08 sounds into it, but it’s got a whole lot of new stuff. It’s definitely updated!

Because the Prophet 08 has been out for 10 years already, it’s time for kind of an update with new features and so forth.

The coolest thing is that we have a 16 voice version and an 8 voice version. The price is much lower than before because we use new technology, but it’s the same basic Curtis filter sound that the original has.

We not only have the gated sequencer from the Prophet 08 but we also added a polyphonic step sequencer that is new to the Rev2. We’ve got effects now that weren’t on the original Prophet 08, that can be individual on each of the layer A and B programmes, like if you have a stack or a split, twice as many mod sources and destinations, USB, OLED display. A whole tonne of new things added.

So, that’s basically it!
