The HOT MOD V2 EVO from Legendary Tones is dual tube module that can be plugged into the socket of the second preamp tube (V2) on your Marshall, so it gives you an additional gain stage without requiring any mods done to the amp. It works beautifully! Especially with a Strat I was completely blown away by the gain range and dynamic range when working the volume pot on the guitar. I'm plugging it into the V2 socket of my 1971 Marshall Superbass today. I'm cranking the amp (Ch. 1, high input) and put all EQ knobs on 5. I'm using the volume pot the guitar to shape tone. I'm using a 1973 Fender Strat and a 1975 Gibson Flying V. The cab is a 1960BV with 1989 Marshall Vintage Speakers.
