While standard four-string electric bass models from Gibson’s “Golden Era,” like the EB-0 and EB-2 shipped by the thousands, only 68 (!!) of these SG-shaped EB-6 bass guitars are known to have shipped from the Gibson factory—and that’s just one more than the semi-hollow 335-shape EB-6 models that came before it. A chronological precursor to the bolt-on Bass VI models Gibson’s biggest competitor a year later, these never quite caught on. But, in a testament to the versatility and usability of Gibson’s now super-rare six-string bass format, Nathaniel and Zach had a blast trudging through some sludgy Black Sabbath tunes, demonstrating what an awesome-sounding addition this 1964 Gibson EB-6 will be to any collector’s vintage instrument arsenal!
