So this is a double whammy. Anasounds (France) was nice enough to send me their Utopia delay with the Element spring reverb. Who the hell doesn't like that combo? Let’s start with the Element reverb. It’s real spring reverb, there’s three size tanks to choose from (you’ll see all three here). It sounds awesome, and I never even thought of myself as a spring reverb fan. I like the medium sized tank because of the size and it still sounds lush. The larger one has more decay and generally sounds deeper. The little fella is cool too and it’s way brighter than the others. There’s high and low cut/boost, level and mix controls. The best part is the saturation switch that lets you fuzz out the reverb. I’m into it. The internal trim pot allows you to adjust the input gain for whatever instrument you’re using (hotter pickups mostly). It’s actually super simple and really easy to dial in a multitude of sounds. It goes well with their Utopia delay. Up to 600ms (boosted from 400ms with internal dip switch). Sweet modulation too! Of course I cranked the delay time because that’s my preference but it also cleans up really well with shorter times. There’s internal controls for the modulation depth/speed and a tone control that is pretty close to emulating tape. Plus, all their stuff looks rad with the wooden faces. Check it!
