The MXR Layers takes an alternate approach to adding sustain and ethereal space to your sound. Like the name implies, one or 3 layers of captured, high-fidelity audio can be molded to your taste using the fooswitch, from simple piano sustain pedal effects to infinite notes and chords. The basic parameters let you determine fade in and decay length and wet dry mix. Plus, you can tell Layers to latch on and sustain with the onboard footswitch or trigger automatically with your input signal and dynamics.
To give the soundscapes greater distinction from your guitar signal, there’s a host of onboard effects from modulation with a blend of chorus and tremolo, a suboctave switch for pitching down the wet signal and even a delay to add more space and rhythmic qualities to your soundcapes. Mono or stereo ins and outs are available via TRS cables plus the Control jack to allows things like Ext triggering as well as signal routing for wet/dry signals in case you want to send your layers elsewhere like clean amp. There’s lots packed into his compact MXR enclosure, so be sure to check out the full specs and Jimdunlop.com
