Let’s step inside the International House of Overdrive, a new StewMac pedal kit based on the legendary Crowther Hot Cake! This circuit is a unique design going back to 1976 and it put transparent overdrives on the map, since it uses no diode clipping-- like other designs of that era. The controls let you dial in completely flat clean boost that retains your amps natural tone all the way to a silky, fuzz-like distortion and plenty of adjustable mids with the Presence control.
This kit from StewMac returns to an early coveted version, removes the buffer for simplicity and True Bypass and even includes the original LM741 IC plus a TL071 found in later versions so you can explore different op-amp clipping and freq responses.
Highly detailed instructions will guide you through and a tidy layout means very little wiring inside!
