The 1176 Compressor needs no introduction because its classic FET circuit has graced so many albums and has a myriad of uses. But for guitar, Brian Wampler wanted to do more than just make a clone, mainly because this fast acting analog comp was designed for applications outside of the guitar-amp signal chain. To make the EGO 76 more adaptable, his wizardry included a clean blend to let the instruments transients and peak through while an active tone control lets you maximize twang or mellow out stacked gain stages. The precision of a studio comp is all there too, with Attack and Release along with loads of makeup gain to overcome the squishiest settings. The Wampler EGO 76 runs on standard 9VDC and features a sparkle finish to match its tone. Check out this studio inspired compressor at WamplerPedals.com
