We all appreciate the velvety sustain and rich fuzz tones created by multiple gain and clipping stages, but these can often get lost in a band setting due to excessive compression and a scooped EQ, turning your riffs into a muddled mess.
Enter the Kittycaster Mohair, born from Howard Gee’s recent quest to tackle longstanding issues with classic BMP circuits. The Mohair ventures into exciting new territory, offering a fresh perspective and much requested features.
Along with a carefully tuned 4 transistor fuzz/distortion circuit that doesn’t follow any specific muff version, a classic treble booster has been married to the front end of the Mohair. This pairing provides tighter attack and low end, classic vocal-like midrange and even the option for full-range boost for rhythm/ lead applications.
All the familiar controls are there, allowing you to explore the Mohair’s generous output, broad tone sweep, and practical gain range.
A bonus Range knob controls the high pass filter at the front of the boost itself. This switchable boost circuit, identified by the red LED, has been optimized to enhance the distortion circuit, so all aspects from caps to transistor specs to output level ensure that any Fuzz-boost setting is appealing. Just like the Tremdriver and Groovy Wizard, the Mohair is handmade with high quality, carefully selected components in an exclusive enclosure. And amongst the generous goodies you’ll receive a Kittycaster battery so you can explore the sonics from power sources ranging from 9-18V DC.
