The Cars "My Best Friend's Girl" guitar lesson. The next Riff of the Day uses the Catalinbread SFT overdrive for classic Ampeg tones and a Way Huge Aqua Puss to produce a slapback echo. Although "My Best Friend's Girl" is played in E, the record version appears to be in F because the tape was run faster during production. Playing along to any live version from The Cars shows you don't need to adjust your guitar. Guitarist Elliot Easton shows his rockabilly chops with this popular tune, using alternate chord positions to add variety and color to a relatively simple chord progression (E,A,B).
