CHAPTER TIMESTAMPS BELOW
In our new series, Sonic Explorations, we dive into iconic songs and quintessential artists to discuss the tools and techniques used to get their classic sounds.
In this, our very first episode, we are going to take a look at Neil Young's 1953 Les Paul Goldtop, his #1, the guitar best known as "Old Black".
Foundational to Neil's signature sound, Old Black has been featured on stage and in the studio as an integral part of almost everything he's done musically over the years. We offer a bit of backstory as well as detailing how it's been modded over the years, discussing what makes this guitar so unique and how it's contributed to his sound for decades. We also cover how we can help players get closer to that sound with their own instruments.
We hope this series provides entertainment, information, and a bit of fun for all of our viewers. If you have any artists or songs that you think would be a good topic for future episodes, drop a line in the comments below and we'll keep them in consideration when creating more videos like this.
