If you’re not familiar, Stringjoy is a company that started in Nashville in 2014 that is committed to providing not only long-lasting, hand-crafted strings but custom gauges for guitar and bass. The thing I realized immediately with these strings is that each one is carefully scrutinized and wound under correct tension, imparting these strings with shorter break-in periods that saves me a lot of time tuning!
For this video, I’ll be comparing Stringjoy Signatures and Broadways which are comprised of different core shape and wrap material. Signatures have a modern hexagonal steel core which helps keep the nickel plated wraps in place and the Broadways offer a vintage-style round steel core with a pure nickel wrap.
Each string set have their own attributes but in a nutshell, round core pure nickel Broadways feel slinkier and sound warmer and rounder, since the metal is softer. The Signatures, which I’ve been enjoying for some time, boast a crisper sound with more output but also a tighter feel. Can you hear the difference?
