Handmade in New Hampshire, USA, Handy FX are one of the newer companies to offer a high quality, modern twist on some of our favorite pedals from the past! The Minotaur is Handy’s take on a K-style drive but as the artwork suggests, this beast can provide a much more muscular tone when needed.
The secret to this versatility comes from the internal mode switch, going from classic Centaurian transparency and high headroom boost to Minotaur mode, which increases the gain and low end coming from this hard-clipped circuit.
After you’ve chosen your voicing, you can engage the original output buffer or leave it true bypass for compatibility with other effects. The Gain control in this circuit has always been a dual potentiometer, meaning its simultaneously mixing in the clipped overdrive with a clean signal, giving the overdrive a much more dynamic feel and helps with note definition in high gain settings. Between the two modes, ample output and Treble control to roll off high end without touching the meat off the tone, the Handy FX Minotaur is ready to gallop into your pedal platform or blaze into an already overdriven tube amp.
