This video explores how to create variable oscillator waveforms by incorporating Mother-32’s patchbay.
When using a semi-modular synthesizer, patch points allow for creative ways to explore and expand the synthesizer’s functionality. Mother-32’s patchbay gives users access to a total of 32 inputs and outputs, providing numerous expressive ways to alter the instrument’s default behavior. The oscillator on Mother-32 features statically selectable sawtooth and square waveforms. By incorporating the patchbay, users can alter this behavior to achieve variable waveforms in a similar manner to the Minimoog Voyager’s wave knob. Taking this one step further, the VC MIX knob can then be used to give access to all three sound sources on Mother-32, with smooth blending between them.
