The Royal Velvet is the latest from Greer Amp’s XFR line, which utilizes a steel core transformer inside the pedal. While the SOMA 63 went after American tube tones, the Royal Velvet brings you the grind and mid-forward chime of your favorite 60s British combos as well as the meat and versatility of Greer’s own Thunderbolt30. With a simple control set, you can use the Velvet as a preamp to re-voice your amp or pedals, or take advantage of the generous amp-like breakup, dynamics and overtones from the built-in transformer. Like all Greer pedals, the Royal Velvet is handmade in the USA and uses True Bypass switching. Plus, it’s designed to take 9-18V DC which makes this XFR pedal a versatile tool for the stage and studio.
