With Guitar, bass and line instruments in mind (+4dBu), the Black Swan’s unique circuit has a definite fuzz and distortion voicing that can clean up with a guitar’s controls or add a layer of texture and harmonic destruction when used in parallel with synths and drum machines, for example. Plus, unity gain is below noon on the dial, so there’s room to boost the signal and mix your amp’s overdriven tone with the Black Swan for a more cohesive tone.
