The Tomb Sender from Blammo Electronics takes a unique approach to the venerable MKIII Tone Bender. Starting with the 3 basic controls Tone, Attack and Level, this fuzz delivers all the smooth, singing sustain this Ge fuzz is known for.
BLAMMO! gives this vintage circuit a needed update with a much more usable range of the Attack (Gain) and an interactive Bias control to explore the saggier sounds. High quality low tolerance capacitors and a beefed up power filtering section also allows the Tomb Sender less hiss and hum. There’s also more output available which makes the next feature rise above unity gain, the noise gate. Flicking the Gate switch not only eliminates background hum but expands the fuzz textures, providing tighter percussive fuzz all the way to low battery sputter when used with lower Bias and Attack settings.
The Skull shaped PCB shows off 3 NOS MP38A Russian Germanium transistors as well as carbon comp resistors in the fuzz section. Add in relay-based true bypass for pop free operation and standard 9V operation and you’ve got a classic fuzz with extra versatility.
