The Wampler Wong compressor takes everything that Cory Wong looks for in a compressor and matches it with a boost circuit to not only help tighten the tone but help it sound fatter! This masterful collaboration isn’t just for fans of Cory but for bassists and guitarist of all genres thanks to powerful features such as and DI box complete with a XLR output.
A key feature of the Wong Compressor is the Blend knob. This allows you to find your desired sustain and punch and then blend back in the guitar’s untouched signal to retain the instrument’s natural attack, tone and feel.
Along with familiar Sustain and Volume controls, the compressor’s tone control lets you dial in or out those spanky sounds while a crucial Attack knob controls how aggressive the compression will spring into action, a must for funky rhythm or eased back soloist alike.
But there’s a whole other section to the Wong compressor, a boost circuit located post comp. This simple one knob-er has a toggle flat response or gentle mid boost around 550Hz to provide overdrive like voicing without clipping. Combined, the Comp and Boost sections can slam an amp out front of the mix and keep it there without sounding squashed. Plus, there are features important to not only Cory Wong but those looking for great sounds outside the amp, including bassists with a XLR direct out with ground lift and a custom always on mode compressor mode for simplicity on stage.
