The Dawner Prince Pulse takes a spin around the famous Maestro Rover and custom Rover-inspired Doppola cabinets used by Gilmour on many albums and tours. The main difference between this type of design and a Leslie is that a smaller 6” speaker is rotated itself, rather than spinning horns or a baffle in front of the driver.
The resulting sound is less of a vibrato effect and more lush and airy with a midrange emphasis that matches the range of a guitar beautifully. Just like Gilmour’s application, you can mix the dry guitar signal with the Pulse to maintain a full bodied tone while simultaneously creating movement and tension with various speeds. In fact, a crucial difference between Leslie and Rover designs is the variable speed control. Rather than just two presets fast and slow speeds, you can manually sweep the entire range from fast to slow and everything in between with an expression pedal. For those who love the ramping experience of a typical rotary speaker, the Pulse gives you this option as well with two adjustable slow and fast settings and the Inertia control to adjust their acceleration time.
The Pulse can be either used in mono or full stereo, with stereo outputs representing two virtual microphone placed on each side of the cabinet for maximum 3D effect. The Distance of these mics are adjustable, resulting in different colorations and intensity while individual output trimpots can be fine-tuned to accommodate various amplifier combinations. For other instruments or stereo rigs, the Pulse accepts a TRS stereo input with a corresponding internal jumper.
Like all Dawner Prince Electronics designs, the Pulse is handmade with audiophile level components in Croatia, sporting an impressive engraved logo on a heavy duty enclosure that is built to last.
