This is an authentic replication of the rare non-transistor based NYC fuzzbox from 1978 which later came to be a favorite of Billy Corgan during the Siamese Dream era.
Using an IC at the heart results in a much more aggressive Muff tone, including a tighter attack and a much more consistent sound compared to transistors.
The Eye See ‘78 is all about attention to detail with the V4 circuit laid out on a classic through-hole PCB including hand-selected ICs for vintage-correct tone. The curious tone seeker will also delight in finding an internal trimpot with magical properties, taking this Fuzz beyond stock V4 sounds.
Just like the smaller version, Wren & Cuff include the V5 Tone Bypass option at the back which lifts the passive tone stack for a more raw, open tone that is perfect for matching with different instruments or just blasting through the mix.
The Eye See ‘78 Big Box sports a super heavy duty folded steel enclosure, bakelite style knobs and lacquered silkscreen graphics for corrosion protection for years to come.
