Just how good is the Epiphone Standard Plus Top Pro? Gibson Jimmy Page good? Here I compare the two physically and with three tracks of audio. Is the Epiphone changing Gibson guitars forever and are those Far East guitars as good as a real Gibson? Find out in this very close up review.
I decided to show just how good or bad the Chinese Epiphone branded guitars really are (but not the cheap Chinese counterfeits or rubbish models). I loaned this guitar from a friend (Jamie Lee Jones) and carried out pretty extensive tests just to see exactly where that difference might lie between a $700 Epiphone and a $7000 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul from 1995.
Can you see it? Can you hear it? some guys will say the Gibson is better and some will say the Epiphone is 'better' whatever that means. Of course I can't show how it feels between the two, but watch the playing and I guess it will speak for itself which guitar has 'that feel and tone' of the two.
