In this video I sit down with a silver KLON Centaur and 3 pedals inspired by it – the Anasounds Savage, J. Rockett Archer, and Wampler Tumnus.

My take:
The sound of the KLON Centaur has been the stuff of legend since the early 90's when creator Bill Finnegan first unleashed it on the world – so much so, that nowadays there are an ever-growing number of clones (or "klones") out there, which claim to either match the Klon's sound exactly or improve upon it.
I recently borrowed my friend Brian's silver KLON Centaur, and I was excited to sit down with it and put it through its paces. Since I don't own it, I don't have any specific affinity for it, and thus I think was able to be relatively objective in this demo / review.
The signature of the Klon is its midrange push, it's transparent output, and it's smoothing of the top and bottom end. The result is an aggressive yet subtle pushed sound that just sort of sounds "right" as a first overdrive stage.
I found all the klones to be VERY close to the original. But I'd love to hear what you all think!
