Demo of the JHS Colour Box Preamp

My take:
The Colour Box is JHS Pedals' take on a stomp box version of the Neve 1073 preamp. Using it as a traditional pedal, the Colour Box added weight and "iron" to my tone, as well as giving it a heck of a volume jump. When you crank the STEP control up, things start to get crazy! The tone squishes and gets super compressed and dirty, starting to emulate the sound of a pushed 1073. When you use the XLR output, the results are even closer to the real thing. I compared it directly to my Vintech X73i (a very faithful Neve clone) and I found it to be in the same ballpark, albeit a little more papery in the top end, and without quite as much warmth in the low end. It definitely does what it's advertised to do though! A very fun, quirky, unique pedal from JHS.
